DEFINITION
Spotting specific items in a text, such as names of people or companies, dates, amounts or contact details. When a document arrives in Clivio, the AI picks out its date, its amount and currency, its main due date, and the people or organizations it mentions, with their contact details. On an invoice it also records the invoice number, the VAT, the supplier’s SIRET number and the line items.
What Clivio picks out
On every document, the AI records the date, the amount with its currency, the main due date, and the organizations and people mentioned, with their contact details. Some types of documents get more. On an invoice, Clivio also reads the invoice number, the amount before tax, the VAT and its rate, the total, the supplier’s SIRET number and the line items. On a payslip, it records the net pay, the period and the employer.
An example with an invoice
You forward invoice FA-2026-0412 from Imprimerie du Canal, for €1,320.00 including VAT, due November 7, 2026. Clivio records the supplier as an organization, €1,100.00 excluding VAT, €220.00 of VAT at 20%, the invoice number and the due date, which then shows in your calendar. With Finance (beta, Pro), the invoice also becomes an expense entry to approve, already filled in.
If the invoice is a Factur-X, nothing is guessed: the data is taken straight from the XML inside it, and the invoice gets a “Factur-X certified data” badge.
When a detail is wrong
Extraction can slip on a blurry photo or an unusual layout. The amount, the due date and the organizations can’t be edited by hand: if one of them is wrong, use “Re-analyze” on the document. The title, the type, the date and the tags, on the other hand, are yours to correct directly. Everything that comes in from outside also waits in “To sort” until you accept it.
Frequently asked questions
Can I edit the amount Clivio picked out of a document?
Not by hand. If the amount, the due date or an organization is wrong, use “Re-analyze” on the document. The title, type, date and tags can be corrected directly.
Does Clivio read the SIRET number on invoices?
Yes. On an invoice, it reads the supplier’s SIRET number along with the invoice number, the VAT and its rate, the totals and the line items.
