A week with Camille, freelance graphic designer.
From Monday to Friday, her paperwork comes in by email, through her drop page, or crumpled at the bottom of a pocket. She never has to open a spreadsheet.
The weekly summary lands in her inbox. It reminds her that the Imprimerie du Canal invoice is due on the 5th and that the Studio Bastide quote expires on Friday.
She forwards the Lumen Hébergement invoice to her Clivio address. The amount, the VAT and the date are picked up, so all she has to do is accept it. Since this invoice comes every month, it gets checked off in her list of expected documents.
She photographs the receipt with the phone scanner. In Finance, it turns into an entry with the amount, the restaurant and the date already filled in.
Studio Bastide sends it through her drop page. She clicks “Extract obligations”, two dates come up as suggested tasks, and she accepts them.
She approves all her receipts in one go. Her accountant looks them over in the Accountant portal, and if he’d rather have a file, she sends him an export.
The details Clivio picks up from each document.
Your files can be PDFs, Word, Excel or PowerPoint documents, photos or plain text, up to 25 MB each. Scans and photos taken with your phone are read too.
What you receive
What you send and keep
Four things worth knowing as a freelancer.
One address for everything that comes in
Forward your invoices to your Clivio address. Attachments are read, then wait in “To sort” until you accept them. If you forward an email with no attachment, it becomes a suggested task.
Your clients can send you a contract or a document through your drop page, without creating an account.
- Allowed and blocked sender lists, on every plan
- Custom address Pro
- Drop page with your logo and colors Pro
Contract dates become tasks
Open a contract, a quote or an invoice and choose “Extract obligations”. Clivio finds up to ten dated deadlines, such as a payment, a renewal or a delivery, and suggests them as tasks linked to the document.
An email reminds you a week before and again the day before, at 8 AM, unless you change the defaults. Every Monday you also get a summary of the week ahead. If you work in France, common tax deadlines can be added as tasks too.
Reminders arrive by email and in the app. There are no push notifications.
Bookkeeping you can hand over, with Finance Pro beta
Every invoice or receipt Clivio reads creates an entry in Finance, already filled in with the amount, the vendor and the date. You approve them one by one or in bulk, and each one stays linked to its document.
- CSV and FEC exports, with XLSX and PDF coming soon
- An Accountant portal where your accountant views your receipts read-only, by invitation
- A personal and a business profile, with VAT tracking if you’re VAT-registered
- Bank statement import, budgets and recurring transactions
Each entry gets the default category you chose. The AI doesn’t pick one for you.
E-signature and client portal Pro
Send a quote or a contract for signature. Your client gets a link, confirms who they are with a six-digit code sent by email, then signs. A proof page keeps the document’s fingerprint and a log of each step.
When you need several documents from a client, the client portal sends them the list. With each upload, Clivio checks that it’s the right document, that it’s readable, recent enough and still valid, and that the name matches.
Simple electronic signature as defined by the EU eIDAS regulation.

What freelancers ask us
Can Clivio issue my invoices?
No, you keep issuing them from your invoicing software. You can store a copy of each one in Clivio, so it sits with the rest of your paperwork. In France, freelancers have had to be able to receive e-invoices since Sep 1, 2026, and from Sep 1, 2027 they’ll issue them through an approved platform, which Clivio is not.
I’m not registered for VAT. Is Clivio still useful?
Yes, for filing your documents and keeping track of due dates. The VAT tracking in Finance is meant for VAT-registered profiles, so you can ignore it.
How does my accountant get to my documents?
With Pro, you invite them to the Accountant portal, where they can view your receipts read-only. If they’d rather have a file, export to CSV or to FEC, the format French accountants use.
Do my clients need an account?
No. On your drop page, they enter their email and send the file. The client portal and e-signature work without an account too, through a private link.
What if an amount is read wrong?
It can happen, especially with a blurry photo. That’s why anything coming from outside waits for your OK, and why an entry in Finance only counts once you’ve approved it. You can also run the analysis again.
How many AI actions will I need?
Count one action for each document analyzed when it arrives, and one for each AI chat question or translation. Searches and calculation questions, like “how much did I pay Lumen in 2026”, are free. The Free plan includes 50 a month and Pro 500, and the counter resets on the 1st of each month.
