Why rename your invoices?
A name like “INV-00437_final_v2.xml” or “document (3).pdf” tells you nothing about what’s inside. Put the date first and your files sort in order. Add the supplier and the amount, and you can find an invoice by searching the folder, or spot a duplicate at a glance.
How the new name is built
| Part | Where it comes from | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Date | The issue date in the XML, written YYYY-MM-DD | 2026-10-01 |
| Supplier | The seller’s name, without accents, spaces or symbols | Lumen-Hebergement |
| Amount | The total including VAT, with a dot before the cents | 28.80 |
| Extension | The same as the file you dropped |
If one of these is missing from the XML, that part is left out. If none of them can be read, the file keeps its name.
How it works
- Drop several invoices at once, as UBL or CII XML files or as Factur-X PDFs.
- Check the suggested names. Each one sits in a text field you can edit. A PDF whose XML can’t be read keeps its original name, with a “Name unchanged” badge.
- Download each file under its new name, or all of them in one ZIP archive called renamed-invoices.zip.
Your files stay on your computer
The renamer reads the date, the supplier and the amount in your browser, and renames the files there too. Your invoices never reach a server and nothing is kept.
Questions
Does the renamer change what’s inside my invoices?
No. Only the file name changes. The file you download is exactly the one you dropped.
What happens to a PDF without readable XML?
It keeps its original name and shows a “Name unchanged” badge. Ask your supplier for the XML file, or get it from your accredited platform.
Does it work with scanned invoices?
No. The renamer reads the XML inside e-invoices, so a scan or an ordinary PDF keeps its name. In Clivio, scans are read by the AI and given a clear title.
Can I edit the suggested names?
Yes. Every name stays editable until you download, so you can match your own naming conventions.
